Our Pastor & First Lady
A Legacy of Love. A Life of Service. A Call to Lead.
Long before there was a title, there was service.
Pastor Fred and Lady Lynn Crayton have spent much of their lives faithfully serving Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Inc., their family, and the Wichita community. From their youth, they learned that ministry is not simply what happens behind a pulpit—it is what happens when we see a need and respond with the love of Jesus Christ.
For more than 43 years of marriage, Pastor Fred and Lady Lynn have walked together through faith, family, service, and ministry. They are the proud parents of two children and grandparents of four grandchildren. Their greatest ministry has always begun at home and extended naturally into the lives of others.
They have never needed a title or an invitation to serve. Whether encouraging someone who was hurting, helping a family in need, supporting their church, or simply showing up when someone needed them, their lives have reflected a simple truth: God’s love is meant to be lived out.
Following the loss of beloved Pastor Larry Carter, Mt. Zion entered a season of prayer, reflection, and seeking God’s direction for the future of the church. Through much prayer and dependence upon God, the congregation believed the Lord was calling Pastor Fred Crayton to lead the church he had faithfully served for so many years.
On March 10, 2024, Pastor Fred Crayton was officially installed as Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Inc.—“The Great Saving Station.”
For Pastor Fred, however, becoming pastor was never about receiving a position. It was about answering a call.
His heart for ministry can often be heard in one of his favorite sayings:
“I love me some Jesus!”
Those words are more than a familiar phrase—they describe the heart behind his ministry. Pastor Fred desires for people not only to hear about Jesus, but to know Him, love Him, follow Him, and experience His transforming love for themselves.
Together, Pastor Fred and Lady Lynn continue to lead with compassion, humility, faithfulness, and a genuine love for people. At the center of their ministry is Christ’s command to love one another and His Great Commission:
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” — Matthew 28:19–20
Their prayer is that Mt. Zion will continue to be more than a church people attend—it will be The Great Saving Station: a place where the lost can find Christ, the hurting can find hope, families can find community, believers can grow in faith, and every generation can discover that there is a place for them in the family of God.
The mission is simple: Love God. Love people. Share Jesus. Make disciples.
And if you spend any time around Pastor Fred, it probably won’t be long before you hear him say it himself:
“I love me some Jesus!”Visit Pastor’s Corner
